With 50 years of uninterrupted artistic creations aimed at children and adults, L’Horta Teatre it’s been producing and performing not only at the Valencian Region, but also all over Spain. Having shown more than 4200 performances Horta Teatre has produced 45 remarkable shows all over the country. In 2023 L'Horta Teatre received the National Performing Arts Award for Children and Youth awarded by the Ministry of Culture of the Spanish government. At the same time, and for almost 30 years, the company has managed Sala L'Horta, a reference theatre venue aimed at children also placed in Valencia. They also manage and coordinate school campaigns to bring awareness of the importance of having performing arts in children's lives. Over the years, the venue has welcomed near 350000 audience from 1300 different educational centres in the province of Valencian. From this continuous two-way work with schools and special education centres, they have identified the need to design and implement a transversal accessibility and inclusion strategy, both inside and outside the walls of our venue. In 1974, when they were born, the goal was to create a collective culture in Valencian taking into account Valencia’s periphery. Little by little L’Horta realised and discovered that their audiences were made up of people who required specific accessibility measures, and they were not an exception, but part of a collective demand that responds to a diverse society. On the other hand, L’Horta has also a wide variety of mainstream audience culturally sensitive and used to go to the theatres. Now, this project is in another step given the desire to bring culture to all people. In the last years, L’Horta has developed a social and inclusive strategy taking into account its urban environment and their work with the territory. Their work is also aimed at expanding audiences and participants profiles to a greater number of social groups, especially, those people remote from our artistic activity due to economic issues, high social complexity contexts or disabilities. Everyone has the right to enjoy culture!
